The CanJoe Company of Blountville, TN has the experience and the expertise of designing and hand crafting perfectly functional and very beautiful musical works of art in every ‘canceivable’ way by using any size, shape, or ‘canfiguration’ of can made by mankind. The photos of the one-stringed musical instrument shown above depict the most recent ‘canmissioned’ CanJoe Company musical instrument made. It was presented as a special gift to an executive of the Christie Cookie Company of Nashville, TN and was ordered by one of that person’s special friends. Due the fact of having now more than 20 years experience in the business of designing, creating, and hand crafting these unique stringed musical instruments, the CanJoe Company can, has, and does build many variations of these cool instruments using all types of cans.

When anyone contacts the CanJoe Company about commissioning an instrument, several questions are asked by me about specific details concerning the personality, the type of character, the age, the gender, or other considerations associated with that new potential owner of the instrument. This information allows the direction and decisions needed to create just the right instrument suited to perfectly fit that person receiving it in every way possible, making their instrument ‘canpletely’ personal to them, for them, and of them only. This is the only way that anyone now receives or acquires a CanJoe Company product (unless the receiver is a sick child in a hospital and is met on the “Tour of Smiles”). Instruments created by the CanJoe Company are NOT legitimately being sold at flea markets, craft fairs, public events, or by anyone anywhere unless that person selling them is legally and publicly identified as ‘CanJoe*John’, (me), or is the CanJoe Company’s only officially authorized associate, Jack Bradshaw. In the early history of the canjoe instrument’s development days, back when Hershel Brown was still living, Herschel and I often worked together in collaboration to produce and improve on these items, so, now, in similar fashion, Jack has become a valuable part of the canjoe instrument history, too, by contributing to the ongoing and ‘cantinuing’ production of these really cool musical creations. So, if you are one whose reading this blog post and also want your own custom designed and hand crafted authentic, genuine, original CanJoe Company instrument, please give us a call at 423-323-0174.

About CanJoe*John

CanJoe*John began making and marketing the authentic 'canjoe' instruments from their origin. Introduced to them by their creator, Herschel R. Brown, in the early 1990s, John, from the beginning, helped Herschel manufacture them in Herschel's shop. John relocated back to his home state of TN in 1993 and continued, initially with Herschel's direct assistance, to make and market them, establishing the licensed sole proprietorship, the CanJoe Company, in 1994. As a professional musician CanJoe*John became billed as the "world's most unique musician, playing the world's most unique musical instrument, the canjoe" (aka, canjo). Always with his own personal canjoe instrument in hand he was awarded the adult "2007 Male Bluegrass Instrumentalist of the Year" by the North American Country Music Association International (NACMAI), and now having the distinction of being the first and only canjoe picker to ever perform on the Grand Ole Opry, has literally taken the one-stringed thing to the outer limits! CanJoe*John is a master craftsman and artist who designs, creates and crafts these instruments as custom works of musical fine art for those who respect and require the best of the best, truly genuine, original one-stringed musical instruments. He can be reached via email at canjoe@canjoe.com, or by phone at 423-612-4320.
